The United States may need a second fiscal stimulus worth $200-250 billion around the end of the year, but the worst of the economic and the financial crisis is already behind us, leading economist Nouriel Roubini of RGE Global Monitor said on Thursday.

Roubini is a man that should be listened to. He's come to prominence because he saw this recession coming and called it early. He's been right ever since.

I'm sure that conservatives will scream and yell about this but conservative economic policy has become discredited, after all it was conservative economic policy that got us into this mess.

As Paul Krugman has pointed out, government deficits are sometimes necessary. Not that "deficits don't matter" as Cheney says. They do. But they are necessary to bring an economy out of recession.
